Ask AOPA - Personal advice and Help for AOPA UK Members

A key benefit of full AOPA UK membership is the personal advice and support service we offer our Student, Pilot, Instructor or Corporate members. We receive around 150 requests for advice and help from members every year.

Our help and advice has saved our members time, money, prosecution and helped members to keep flying. Please get us involved at the earliest possible time and before you have started any proceedings that will cost you money.

We will do our best to provide you with meaningful and accurate advice based on the information you provide. We may refer your issue to an aviation law specialist if relevant for iniitial professional advice, but be aware that that advice may be you should consider engaging legal services which are outside the scope of the "Ask AOPA" service.

We are able to help with procedural and/or regulatory questions but cannot give second opinions on a specific medical diagnosis by your AME, GP or other medical professional. For example, if your AME has detected a medical problem and declared you unfit subject to further investigation we may be able to provide advice on the investigation porcess but not the diagnosis. AME's are tied by strict criteria set by the CAA and are obliged to follow these criteria. For some conditions you might ask your AME to consider a Safety Pilot restriction on your medical.
